January 10, 2022 was the official opening of our school for pupils in creche to Year 6. Like so many places, The Mill Hill School, Abuja has gathered many stories and experiences to share that are fun, friendly, dramatic and celebratory.

In its short history our school has achieved and experienced so much... From our foundation, we have achieved excellence within all learning areas and learning teams.

Our educational philosophy is based upon pupils having the ability and willingness to learn and continue learning throughout their lifetimes... To enable the students at TMHS to achieve their academic and social potential, our school has developed a strong positive, collaborative and cooperative culture within the school community.

The achievement of this culture relies on the strong sense of community... Today, this is very evident At the Mill Hill School, Abuja where we have established and developed a school community based on collaboration and cooperation.

Most importantly, the vision is recognised in the development and achievements of our students and staff. The qualities of the educational programs and staff at The Mill Hill School are recognized in our own community, across our state and Nigeria. The experiences and activities received across all learning areas prepare them well for the challenges of the future.

Why Mill Hill?

We offer a co-educational day and boarding experience where every student is known, valued, and supported.

To complete the admissions process, all students will be interviewed and tested. The process may appear intimidating at first, but we strive to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible! We will keep you updated on where we are in the process, what will happen next, and how your child is doing.

Our Educational Philosophy

We provide a curriculum that is wide and adaptable, fostering critical thinking, social skills, and a global viewpoint to prepare our students for the future.

A Blended Learning Environment

Why choose The Mill Hill School? Our blended approach combines rigorous traditional classroom practice with engaging online educational material, creating a dynamic and effective learning experience. We place just as much emphasis on new, creative, and innovative subjects as we do on traditional academic ones, ensuring our students find success and fulfillment in a wide variety of learning pathways.

Our Primary Curriculum

Built on the Cambridge International framework, our curriculum develops critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration.

Our curriculum meets learners' learning skills through topic-based units covering reading, writing, phonics, and vocabulary. Fiction and non-fiction objectives are reinforced through diverse activities, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the English language.

The Cambridge Scheme for Mathematics is designed for flexibility and mastery. Through varied strategies, we cover arithmetic, reasoning, fluency, and problem-solving, using diverse activities and resources to illustrate mathematical concepts effectively.

Scientific enquiry is at the heart of our science curriculum. Learning targets in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry are achieved through hands-on investigative work, focusing on ideas, evidence, and observation.

Geography: Students develop skills using maps, compasses, and digital tools to locate places, understand environmental issues, and express views on weather and locality.

History: Children learn about past and current events, understanding changes within living memory through timelines and historical inquiry.

PSHE: We provide knowledge, skills, and attributes to help children stay healthy, safe, and prepared for their futures.

Creative Arts & The Piper Library

Mill Hill is well-known for its abundance of opportunities in the Creative Arts. Pupils are inspired by excellent teaching and first-rate facilities, with numerous productions, concerts, and projects throughout the year.

Our centrally located Piper Library offers a comfortable environment with over 17,000 books, computers, and other resources. It's a constantly evolving space that supports both curriculum needs and recreational reading.

Dedicated Learning Support

Ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their full academic potential.

The Learning Support team works closely with teaching staff to create Individual Support Plans (ISP) for pupils with learning difficulties. Early recognition is key, so we offer dyslexia screening programs across all stages (EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Years 3-6).

Communication with parents is integral. We encourage parents with concerns to meet with us, and we hold regular review meetings for children with an ISP.

In Key Stage 1 and Prep, our support staff provide tailored one-to-one lessons during the school day at no extra charge, helping students fully access the curriculum and achieve their learning targets.
